Clo and her sister Cabby joined the herd together fall 2021 at 11 years old. Clo is now the herd leader with Cabby as her lieutenant. Both had been used to being managed as range cows and so had never been handled. They were surprisingly easy to halter train and gentle for milking, proving the value of their breeding with their excellent disposition.
At 11, 12, and 13 years old I was getting 4 gallons a day. I've stopped milking her now, leaving her to her favorite job of leading and guarding all her girls.
Having been a range cow, I am missing the first 11 years of Clo's history. So below are just the calves she's had while in my herd.
Brom was Clos first calf born on the property after I bought her. His sire is Five Star Beau.
Clementine is one of my five Butler daughters that I am very pleased with. She is packing her first baby due in October. Like her mom, Clementine is simple, sweet, and a very easy keeper. Looking forward to seeing if she can match her mom's milk production.
Clyde is the last born Butler baby. Like his big sister and mom, he is exceptionally easy going and simple. There isn't a drop of funk in this little man. He's one that will never leave this herd. He may not be the handsomest bull around, but he's got a big job to do taking care of some of my sharpest cows once he's mature.
Baby Cassia. The newest addition. This little peach is sired by Cascade's Braxton. We will see how the heavy Cascade muscles pare with lanky tall structure and extra heavy milk production. So far Cassia is exceptionally strong and thrifty.
