I've always wanted to try tanning. Late in 2025, I got the opportunity to take a class on oak bark tanning. I started with a deer hide. After three weeks of working on it and wondering if it would really work, I ended up with a beautiful, flexible, dense, naturally wood colored buckskin leather. Definitely very pleased with my first try. Second hide turned out almost identical. Third try I managed to get much softer, though not as strong. I'm now keeping a steady sting of hides going through each solution. It's a fun hobby. Though it is expensive. For every animal I butcher I can now use the hide as additional material for income.
In the next few months, I'll be adding deer, sheep, rabbit, pig, and cow hides available for sale. Check back here for finished hides as I list them.
Offering to tan hides in trade for hides I can keep.
I'll return one tanned hide for every two hides I get.
